I Take Pictures.

I've been into photography for quite a while now, and I've been quite lucky with the events and venues I've been allowed to photograph. Here are a few albums for your perusal. I've tried to give you a representative sample of my work so you can determine if I'm the right person for your engagement. Of course, this could also be a good destination if you're looking to waste a little time on the internet looking at some cool shots! In either case, welcome!

My start in photography has been of a journalistic nature. I took photographs of NCAA Division I football and soccer for several years before branching into other freelance work for the Dallas Morning News. My focus for the News was primarily of food, an intriguing and very technical style of photography. Unfortunately, I've retained few photos from those years - they were before I turned to digital in 1999. More recently, I've continued to leverage my journalistic photography experience with clients like Martha Stewart and ABC's The Bachelor, but I've moved into exploration of the artistic side of photography. My thought is that I can use experience from one side to improve the other. So far, I'm pleased with the result, but this is your chance to decide for yourself!

All pictures, unless otherwise noted, are taken by Chris Hinds. Please contact me if you wish to use these pictures in any way.

Nature

nature photo People seem to enjoy this nature study. I started this study for two reasons. First, all photographs are from my backyard. I lived in the city of Dallas, so it's not like the backyard is anything special. Still, I wanted to prove that it isn't necessary to travel to far off lands to achieve artistic photographs. Second, this series is also exploring the combination of documentary photography with artistic photography.

Animals

dogs photo OK, if you don't know I like dogs, you're both not someone I know AND someone who hasn't read anything else on this site. For your enjoyment, I've included some photos of dogs. Most of the pictures are at the White Rock Dog Park in Dallas, TX. Yes, I go to the dog park. Yes, I go often. Yes, I'm a habitual user of the White Rock Dog Park. At least I've overcome step one of the twelve step process ... now only 11 to go! For those who aren't dog lovers (shame on you! oops - did I say that?), I've included other animals as well.

Concerts

dogs photo Concerts are fun to shoot. The artists like to have their success documented. The fans love to see their bands perform at home and on the road. I love to help both groups. My focus is to capture the emotion of the artist's content in another art medium: print. If I can successfully show the viewer of my work the emotion that the artist felt at the time of the concert, I feel I've done a good job. I've photographed local Dallas artists up through international artists on world tours. Anyway, stop reading this stuff and go check out the concert pictures! After all, you're here for my photography, not my (not so) creative writing!

Architecture / Real Estate Photography

architecture photo Architectural photography can achieve many goals, but two major goals include artistic and commercial. This section has a combination of both. These images, spanning three continents, have artistic merit in places like the Vatican and commericial merit in places like Boise, ID. Enjoy!

Architecture Study: Renovated Home

cox street photo This series focuses on a single real estate photo shoot. This house, in a historic district of the historic town of Nacogdoches, TX, has undergone extensive renovations. This is a representative sample of shots taken to document the changes made to the house and the vastly increased resale value of this home.

Portraiture Study: "Bunny"

portrait photo This is a brief series intended to capture "Bunny" Rogers as she would act in everyday situations. This assignment is a combination of portrait and art - the intent is to capture the "real" Bunny, but also to present Bunny in as favorable light as possible.

Everything Else

portrait photo OK, so there are more events that I've covered than just the ones I've highlighted above. Feel free to surf over and check out my online portfolio here. Don't be shy - it'll be a fun diversion from real life! Then again, perhaps this diversion will lead you to want to hire me to document your real life, too. Either way, come in and enjoy.
