OK, this probably isn't what you would expect would lead an "about me" section of a brochure-style website. After all, the goal of this sort of website is to convince you to reach out and contact the owner of the website. Well, enough about all that - I like dogs, and they're quite important to me. I have an SPCA rescue, and her name is Kaya. She's been with me for a while now - actually, since about 3 days after I purchased my first property in Dallas.
I grew up with dogs. We always had between 4 and 7 dogs at any given time, and the only reason I was without was that my university years required me to live in campus housing, and they didn't like our 4-legged friends. I guess they didn't get the memo that they're man's best friend! Oh well.
Anyway, I digress. In addition to personally rescuing a dog, I help animals in other ways, too. I created and maintain the White Rock Dog Park website. In addition, I've created web presences for several rescue groups, both within Petfinder and in a separate web presence on the internet. I want to increase awareness of the animal population, and I'm happy to use my strengths to help loving dogs find loving homes.
OK, I know some of you are only reading the headings. However, for the rest of us, we already know I build websites. Anyway, web development is one way I pay bills, and revenue from web development helps me continue my stronger cause, animal rescue.
I've built smaller websites for photographers, medium sized sites for travel agencies, artists, elder care facilities, and multi-location workout facilities, and larger sites for magazines. I use my own hardware and software, and I can provide as little or as much help as the client desires. For many clients, I help them through the entire online marketing process from competitive research through design and implementation to search engine optimization and marketing campaigns. By leveraging one resource with expertise in all areas, those clients know that all components of their online campaign will be tightly integrated.
Pictures help me with incremental revenue. I've photgraphed Martha Stewart, ABC's the Bachelor tryouts, at least 100 bands from international Christian artists such as Audio Adrenaline and Stephen Curtis Chapman to local rock groups such as Eastwood and Superstring, and, of course, lots of dogs.
Homeless are another cause I'm supporting through my visual arts. By photographing homeless, I hope to place faces and personal stories alongside the statistics. Our metroplex has over 9,000 homeless. By photographing homeless and interviewing them, I hope to transfer their stories visually to those who can help in other ways to reduce those statistics. Not all homeless are crazy, drug-addicted alcoholics, and many would like nothing more than a helping hand to get them back on their feet!
I have a computer science degree and an MBA, both from Southern Methodist University in Dallas. I worked in the corporate world for several years, and I realized that I'd better serve the economy if I were a bit more independent. Thanks, SMU, for the idea to start my own business! Because of that difficult decision to start my own company, I've met more people and experienced more life than I feel I could have through a standard corporate gig.
If you're interested in web development that achieves your business objective and helps a cause, Hinds Consulting is a great choice. Not only will you have a professional website, but you'll feel comfortable knowing that you're helping the homeless in Dallas, be they 2 or 4 legged!
